Bil’in je vesnice vzdálená 4 kilometry od Zelené linie – hranice příměří z roku 1949 a hranice z let před rokem 1967 – nedaleko separační bariéry. Stavba zdi měla odříznout 60% půdy patřící k vesnici. V roce 2004 prohlásil Mezinárodní soudní dvůr zeď za porušování mezinárodního práva. Izraelský Nejvyšší soud rozhodl, že izraelská vláda má právo vybudovat zeď, aby zajistila bezpečnost státu, ale že části, které by příliš omezovaly palestinské obyvatele, mají být znovu naplánovány a vedeny jinou trasou. Od ledna 2005 organizují obyvatelé vesnice pravidelné týdenní protesty proti výstavbě zdi. V roce 2010 během jedné z demonstrací vesničané a mezinárodní aktivisté zpřítomnili film Jamese Camerona Avatar. Přítomnost Avatarů v Bil’inu symbolizuje odpor vůči imperialismu všech typů. Nenásilná demonstrace se setkala s nepřiměřeným násilím ze strany izraelské armády

Bil’in is situated east of the Green Line – the 1949 armistice line and pre 1967 borderline – near the separation barrier. The construction of the West Bank Wall in the case of Bil’in was planned so as to cut of 60% of the village land from the village itself. In 2004, the International Court of Justice declared the wall a violation of international law. The Israeli Supreme Court ruled that the Israeli government had the right to construct the wall to ensure security, but that sections of it imposed undue hardships on Palestinians and should be re-routed. Since January 2005, the village has been organizing weekly protests against the construction of the wall. In 2010 the villagers and international activists evoked James Cameron's film Avatar during one of these weekly demonstrations. The Avatars presence in Bil’in symbolized the united resistance to imperialism of all kinds. The non-violent demonstration was met with excessive violence by the Israeli army.
